Obit: The Daily Standard

Robert G. Hoenie, 73, Celina, died Saturday at 7:15 a.m. at Community Hospital, Coldwater.

He was born April 23, 1921, in Celina to Carl J. and Freda (Clott) Hoenie. On Jan. 22, 1944, he was married to Mary Ann Braun, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Dyne and Donna, Perrysburg, and Curtis and Jane, Angola, Ind., a brother and sister-in-law, William and Eleanor, Celina; a sister, Margaret Yahl, St. Marys, and two grandchildren.

Preceding him in death was a sister, Bernice Vermillion.

A World War II Army veteran, he worked as manager of Kroger stores in Celina and Lima and had owned Hoenie's Supermarket, Edgerton. More recetnly he had been employed by the Mercer County Highway Department.

He was past president of the Edgerton Rotary Club, former commander of the Rockford American Legion, member of the American Legion and Knights of Columbus, both of Celina.

A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina, the Rev. William Hoyng officiating. Burial will be in North Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, today 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. with a wake service at 8:30.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the I.C. Endowment Fund.
