William Levi Benefiel's parents are William Benefield (b. 8/14/1808 and d. 11/6/1870. He was born near Mr. Sterling, Kentucky and he d. 11/6/1870 near Perkinsville, Wayne County, Indiana. F.A.G. # 21771715 He married Cynthia A. Kidwell on 11/9/1826 in Wayne County Indiana. Cynthia d. 12/27/1854. F.A.G. # 21771658 They are both buried in the Perkinsville area in the Prewitt Cemetery.

**William H. Benefield Jr. was b.9/14/1842 and enlisted in Co. G 17th Indiana Volunteers on 4/22/1861and was discharged on 6/20/1864 # 21666496 He set up a Mercantile business then farmed. He was very successful, but a series of misfortunes caused him to have to give the farm up. In August of 1888 William was appointed by the Harrison administration to work for the United States Indian Service, at the Omaha and Winnebago agencies. He worked for the agency for about twenty years and there is a picture of him taken with his wife when they were in Nebraska. After Cleveland was elected, he resigned and went to Harriman, Tennessee, and worked with his brother, Isham , in the real estate business.
