Martin H. Price, 72, died at Masonic hospital Wednesday after a long period of illness.
Price was born at Nickerson, Kansas, on May 16, 1880. His parents died when he was a small boy and he stayed with a sister at Wichita where he sold papers to pay his way through school.
At the age of 17 he enlisted in the army and served in the Spanish-American War. After his discharge from the army he was married to Belinda Jane Mason at Anthony, Kansas, on November 19, 1900. Shortly afterward he bought a relinquishment three and one-half miles east of Cherokee and has lived here ever since.
Surviving are his wife, Belinda Jane Price of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Ruby Custar, Cherokee; Mrs. Opal Kerns, Cherokee; and Mrs. Sylvia Hamilton, Anchorage, Alaska and one son, Gilbert of Cherokee. He is also survived by one brother, Dan of Cherokee and 14 grand children and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m., at the Friends church in Cherokee with Norval Smith, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in MWA cemetery under direction of Hodge Funeral Home.
