Richard (Dick) I. Maxson, 87, of Augusta, MI went home to be with the Lord on July 12, 2022. He was born on February 9th, 1935 to Glenn and Dorothy (Hill) Maxson, at home on his parent's farm in Bedford Twp. Richard (Dick) was married two times which end in divorce. In August 1975 he married the former Lois A. Mack, they resided on the farm in Augusta, MI. Dick worked at Battle Creek Rendering Company, and United Steel and Wire where he retired in 1999. His real passion was farming. Richard (Dick) was a farmer for over 55 years. He finally retired last year from farming. He raised cows, baled and sold hay for many years. Dick like to meet is fiends for coffee and talk about many things. Dick's neighbors referred to him as the Mayor of the neighborhood. Dick and Lois were faithful members of the Hickory Corners Bible Church. He still enjoyed his Tuesday morning men's Bible study group. Dick enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved to drive his antique 1931 Ford car or one of his tractors with a wagon pulling the grandkids in the local parades. They also took a tractor to drive across The Mackinac Bridge many times. Dick and Lois enjoyed traveling taking many trips to Florida to visit friends, several cruises, and a memorable trip to Hawaii. Dick is survived by daughters Hope (Jim) Bursley of Battle Creek, and Vicki Maxson of Augusta. He is also survived by grandchildren, David Hillman, Christopher (Kristie) Hillman, Phillip (Jeanna Thomason) Dockum, Marcus (Jessica) Kammerud, Tasha Freeburn, Jason (Jozalyn Melville) Kammerud, Devin Kammerud, Kaylyn (Benn Mitz) Strimpel. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. He is survived by a sister Jean Kyser. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother John Maxson, and a daughter Barbara Maxson. Visitation will be at 10:00am on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Hickory Corners Bible Church with the service to follow at 11:00am, with Pastor Rich Anspach officiating. Burial will take place at Hickory Corners Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Hickory Corners Bible Church Children's Fund or the National Kidney Foundation.
