Boyd was born on a farm in rural Tuscola. He spent all of his younger years farming. In 1970, he gave up farming and went to work for Trunkline Gas Company. He retired from there in 1990 and moved off the farm to Tuscola.
Boyd married Barbara Edwards on July 8, 1962 in Arcola. They had 60 wonderful years together. They spent their 60th anniversary together in the hospital where he died later that evening.
They were blessed with two wonderful girls: Rena Sue Stenger and Dori Stenger Michl both of Jasper, IN. Boyd and Barb moved to Jasper in 2017 to be closer to their girls.
Boyd is survived by his wife and 2 daughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Clarence and Esther Rahn Stenger and 3 brothers: Darrell, Victor and Dale Stenger.
Boyd was a kind and gentle man and loved to visit with anyone. He laughed a lot and most of all he loved his family and did anything he could for his girls.
Private family graveside services will be held at the Tuscola Township Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
