Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred C. Shelledy, 89, who died at the St.
Ansgar Good Samaritan Center February 4, were held February 7 at the United
Methodist church in Osage with the Rev. Jack Speer officiating.

Mildred Carter Shelledy was born May 1, 1891 in Floyd county, the
daughter of D. R. and Mary Ashbough Carter. She grew up in Charles City and
was graduated from Charles City high school. She was a dental assistant in
Charles City for a number of years. She married Frank Shelledy in Charles
City May 1, 1913. They lived there for several years, and then made their
home in Edinbourgh, Tex. for a short time.

They came back to Osage in 1921 and lived there until May 1975. Mrs.
Shelledy then moved to Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge and lived there until
February 1977, at which time she became a resident of the Good Samaritan
Center here and resided there until her death.

Mrs. Shelledy was a 50-year member of the Bethany Chpater [Chapter] 249
Order of Eastern Star, and an active member of the United Methodist church
in Osage.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers and one
sister. She is survived by four children: Alvin R. Shelledy of Mesa, Ariz.;
Mrs. Leonard (Wilma) Herr of Carlsbad, N. M.; Keith Shelledy of Mesa,
Ariz.; Mrs. Manvil (Dorcas) Ask of Osage; 12 grandchildren and 14 great
grandchildren.

Burial was in the Osage cemetery with Rev. Speer in charge of the
committal services.
