Restaurateur. Owner of Francesco's Restaurant on Hegenberger Road, near the Oakland Airport. At age 12 he started working in his mother's restaurants, and he opened Francesco's in 1968 and it stayed in business for 32 years. It closed in 2016. He was very civically involved and his interest and support of local sports teams over the years made his restaurant a favorite meeting spot for fans and players alike. In his 60's he got a pilot's license and commuted to and from his from in Santa Rosa where he maintained a vineyard of quality Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Zinfandel grapes.. He loved "holding court" at the bar in Francesco's. He wrote a double column article weekly in the Oakland Tribune that was an advertisement for the restaurant where he reminisced about his younger days, the evolution of his and his mother's restaurants, the things they cooked and the various well known people that had recently dined there.
