Death Claims Logan Man at age of 91

Orson Pratt Thatcher, 91, died at his home in Logan Monday of infirmities incident to age. He was born Aug 19, 1876 in Logan, a son of Hezekiah and Jane Amy Baugh Thatcher. He was married May 27, 1903 in the Sal Lake LDS temple to Nettie Elizabeth Reeder.

He was a member of the first Utah State University football team. An active member of the LDS Church, he had served a mission to the Northwestern States in 1901-1903. He had been secretary and superintendent of the Sunday Schools and was a High Priest in the Logan Stake. He also served two stake missions.

He was a farmer by occupation and was one of the first members in the first Farm Bureau organized in Cache Valley.

Surviving are his widow, Logan; sons and daughter, Orson R. Thatcher, Young Ward; Ray A Thatcher, Logan; Mrs. Virginia Adams, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Margaret Bramwell, Provo; Mrs Ruth Vigh, Burley, Idaho; Mrs. Josephine Archibald, Colinga, Calif; 30 grandchildren; 29 Great grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Amy Keller, Glendale, Calif.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 12 noon in the Logan sixth-fourteenth Ward chapel with Bishop Van Ness Wallentine officiating. Friends may call at Hall mortuary Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to service. Burial will be in the family plot in the Logan City Cemetery
