Kenneth C. Allen of Hillsboro, Missouri, passed away October
30,1989,in Jefferson County, Mo.at the age of 69 yrs. 9 mo.
15 days. He was born Jan. 15 1920 in Potosi,Washington County Missouri, to the late Benjamin Harrison and Effie Mae (Huitt) Allen.
Ken served his country in the U S Army during World War II
He took part in the battle of Guadalcanal and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific American Defense Ribbon.
On April 10, 1954 he was united in marriage to Viola Gibson at Sullivan Mo. Ken made a profession of faith in God
and he ,along with his wife , enjoyed being members of the Journeymen Quartet for many years. He was also a member of the Potosi Masonic Lodge #131 A.F. & A.M.,and was a driver for Complete Auto Transport for some 28 yrs. before his retirement
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Blanche Jarvis and one brother, Ben Allen
Those who remain to mourn his passing from this life are
his loving and devoted wife,Viola (Cricket) Allen,two brothers, Ralph Allen of Hillsboro and Russell Allen of Potosi, Two sisters, Mae Burbank of Potosi and Margaret
(Mrs. Eddie Trokey) of Desoto,neices,nephews and other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
A Masonic service was held Thursday evening at Britton
Chapel under the direction of the Potosi Lodge #131 AF & AM
Kenneth C. Allen lay in state after 6:00 PM Wed. November
1 1989 at Britton Brothers Funeral Home Potosi Mo. Funeral
services were conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, November 3 1989, in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Guy Lawyer officiating,
assisted by Rev. Danny Martin and Rev. Carl Wright.
Music was provided by the Journeyman Quartet. Committal
prayer and interment was in the Shoal Creek Cemetery,
Steelville Mo. Serving as pallbearers were Wendell Allen,
Jack Allen, Kenny Burbank, Albert Burbank, Ted Allen, Dan Trokey, Ronnie Allen, Allen Phelps, Jan Henry and Donald Martin.Arrangments were under the direction of Britton Brothers Funeral Home of Potosi Missouri.
