Funeral services for Edward O. (Jack) Blankenship, pioneer Stehekin resident, were held last Saturday at 2 pm at St. Andrews Episcopal Church with Dean W. B. Carns officiating. Burial will followed in Riverview Cemetery. Jones & Jones of Wenatchee were in charge.

He was born on Dec. 29, 1875 at Salen, Ill. He lived there until 1887 when he came with his parents to Ellensburg, where his parents located on a homestead on the Swauk Prairie in Kittitas Co.

In 1891 the family came to Wenatchee locating on a farm at Lake Wenatchee. Mr. Blankenship spent several years in Alaska and was there during the gold rush.

Upon his return he was married to Teresa Anderson, moving to Stehekin in 1907. He was employed by the forest service for many years. Mrs. Blankenship died in 1927. He married Mrs. Peggy Pilgram in 1929.

He died in a Wenatchee hospital on Wednesday, July 27, following an illness of 3 months at the age of 73.

He is survived by his widow; four brothers, Ernest Blankenship and Harry Blankenship of Wenatchee; Floyd and Howard Blankenship of Klamath Falls, Or.; two sisters, Mrs. Mae Herscher of Long Beach, Ca.; and Mrs. Estella Rairdon of Wenatchee.
