John Henry Miller Jr died June 24, 1996 at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Manchester, NH. He was born in Wallingford, VT; the son of John and Jessie (Campbell) Miller.

He moved to New Hampshire in 1986 and formerly was a longtime Springfield resident. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was a member of the Holy Cross Commandery in Bellows Falls; the Rutland (VT) American Legion Post 31; the Springfield Elks Lodge and Rutland Fraternal Order of Eagles. Also, he was a member of Chipman Masonic Lodge No. 52 of Wallingford, VT; the Ramona Chapter No. 4 of Eastern Star in Springfield; the Brattleboro (VT) Scottish Rite; and the Cairo Shriners Temple AAONMS in Rutland.

Survivors include his wife, Doris (Bragg) MilIer of Springfield; one daughter, Marion Pierce of Gilmanton; one stepson, Benjamin Gallup of Burtonsville, MD; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and one step great grandchild.

There are no calling hours.

Graveside services will be held later at the convenience of the family in Green Hill Cemetery in Wallingford.
