James J. Nelson age 73, of Manistee passed away February 8, 2022 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan with his loving wife by his side.
He was born February 8, 1948 in Manistee, Michigan son of Walter and Cara (Adamski) Nelson. He is survived by his wife Cathy, his brother Walter Kenneth Nelson and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his very special son Kyle, his parents, an infant sister Arlene Joan Nelson and a sister-in-law Pauline "Polly" Nelson.
James was employed by the United States Post Office for 42 years. He also served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years during the Vietnam conflict.
He was an avid Michigan State fan. Loved to watch Detroit Tiger baseball and Detroit Lions football. He also loved to watch the Manistee Saints baseball team play when they were in town.
After retirement he dabbled with E-Bay and worked for Grant Cole Auctioneers Inc. and occasionally enjoyed playing pinocle with his best buds Roger, Jim and Kully.
Cremation has taken place and due to the Covid-19 restrictions a Celebration of Life will be Sunday June 2, 2022 between 2 pm and 5 pm at the Manistee Municipal City Marina.
