Lt. Commander (Ret.) Carl Thurston Healer was born in Roby (Fisher County), Texas to Alfred Cyrus Healer & Mattie Mae Hammond.

Thurston was the 2nd of four children, which included:

Thurston married Elva Mae (Mamie) Russell on 2/28/1947 in Nolan County, Texas. He was father to:

* Madelyn Carol Healer Ward

He passed away in hospice care at Colorado Springs, CO. As he requested, his ashes were scattered among his Japanese garden he so lovingly tended at his home on Dolomite Circle in Colorado Springs, CO.
