Banny Blue Dies from Knife Wound
Banny Blue, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Blue of Calhoun County, died Monday night in the Houston Hospital from a knife wound inflicted Sunday afternoon.
Young Blue, after eating dinner at his home, went for a walk with two companions, and had only been gone about two hours when the tragedy occurred. Rumors were conflicting concerning the wound, a gash just above the heart, whether accidental in a tussle, or self-inflicted. He was rushed to the Houston Hospital where at first it was thought he would recover. He regained consciousness for a short time but died late Monday night.
He was only 27 years of age, most of which time he had spent in his native county. The tragedy cast a gloom over the entire community on account of the popularity of the young man and his family. The funeral was held at New Liberty at 2 pm Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Clark, pastor of the Methodist Church at Vardaman, officiating.
Besides his parents, he is survived by three brothers, Jewitt, Prince and Charlie and three sisters, Etna, Janie and Annie. He was a cousin of Dr. R. S. Blue of Houston.
Among those from here who attended the funeral were Mr. A. A. Scott, Mr. Charles McCraine and Mrs. J. R. Priest.
