OBITUARY- The Monitor-Herald, Dec. 6, 1951
Vardaman, Miss., Dec. 4- Mrs. Annie Vanhorn Blue, age 78, wife of Mr. Dave Blue, died at the family home in the New Liberty community on Dec. 1, after an illness of four months.
Mrs. Blue was born in the community where Vardaman is now located and lived in that immediate section all her life. She was the daughter of the late Mr. William P. Vanhorn and Mrs. Janie Elizabeth Vanlandingham Vanhorn. She was a woman of fine character and was possessed of a good mine and a desire to see the conditions about her improved. She was a member of the Baptist Church, which she joined in girlhood days, and lived a consecrated and influential life. Widely known over the county, and held in high esteem Mrs. Blue was a useful and respected member of her community, church and county.
Funeral services were held at the New Liberty Baptist Church, of which she was a member, on Dec. 3rd at 2 P.M. by Rev. S. E. Carter, assisted by Rev. L. F. Haire, followed by interment in the church cemetery. James E. Cook Funeral Home had charge of arrangement and the following served as pallbearers, John Skinner, Harvey Ramage, Thomas Blue, David Blue, George Blue, F. B. Watkins, Jr. Flower girls were granddaughters and nieces of Mrs. Blue.
