"Mrs. M. J. Jones, after a long illness, died Saturday afternoon, January 22nd, 1921, at her home in Burnet. The body was taken to the Mt. Horeb family burying ground near Gabriel Mills, for interment. The funeral service was conducted by Bro. Morgan Morgans of this place, who paid a very high tribute to the unselfish life of deceased. J. H. Stapp of Burnet followed Bro. Morgans with a few remarks, telling of the sterling integrity of Mrs. Jones, and the friends she had. Many relatives and friends were present at the burial to pay their last sad rites of respect to this good woman.

Mrs. Jones was born February 2nd, 1852, and before her marriage was Miss Stewart. She was united in marriage to J. L. Jones August 27th, 1872. To this union four children were born, two of them dying while young. The survivors are John L. Jones of Dallas, and Tom Jones of Burnet. Her husband died in 1882.

Mrs. Jones had been a resident of Burnet for almost forty years, and the greater part of this time she conducted the Jones Hotel, which was a popular eating place for the people of this county when they had occasion to come to Court or for other purposes.

The Bulletin does not believe there has ever been a woman in Burnet more highly respected and regarded than Mrs. Jones. Always kind and obliging, ever standing for the right, she commanded the esteem of all with whom she came in contact.

Her sons have indeed lost a loving mother, whom both deeply venerated. The Bulletin joins their many friends in extending sympathy to them in their hour of bereavement."
