John J. Chupp, age 97 of Nappanee, IN, went home to be with the Lord at 6pm on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at the Maples at Waterford Crossing in Goshen, IN. Mr. Chupp was born on July 2, 1924 to Joseph C.S. and Amanda (Detweiler) Chupp in Owen, WI. John moved to the Nappanee area from Wisconsin at the age of 18 in 1943. On June 20, 1957 John married Esther Lehman.
She preceded in death on August 15, 2015.
John was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Mr. Chupp is survived by 4 children: Ruth Ann (Randell) Rodgerson of Syracuse, IN, Marvin J. (Karen) Chupp of Milford, IN, Mervin R. (Glenda) Chupp of Goshen, and Rose Mary (John) Metzger of New Paris, IN; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; 1 step great great granddaughter; and a sister-in-law Nancy Chupp of Eden Valley, MN.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a granddaughter Rachele Metzger; and 13 siblings: Raymond Chupp, Lydia Graber, Levi Chupp, Mary Gingerich, Elizabeth Schrock, Samuel Chupp, Rudolph Chupp, William Chupp, Joseph Chupp, Andrew Chupp, Silinia Chupp, Anna Miller, and Harvey Chupp.
Friends and family may call after 4 pm Sunday, June 5, 2022 and all-day Monday, June 6, 2022 at the Allen Kaufman residence (9349 W 1350 N, Nappanee, IN). Funeral services will be held at 9:30 am on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at the Allen Kaufman residence. Home ministries of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate and burial will take place in Weldy Cemetery.
