Obituary for Dora Mae Lewis Barret from Smith Family Funeral Home (Glenwood, Pike Co., Arkansas):

Dora Mae "Granny Dora" Barrett
July 13, 1942 - May 29, 2022
Amity, AR

Dora Mae "Granny Dora" Barrett, age 79, of Amity, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Sunday, May 29, 2022, just four hours following the death of her precious husband, Bug.

She was born on July 13, 1942, in Daisy, Oklahoma, the daughter of Mark Lewis and Rhoda Jefferson Lewis Sullivan. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Floy Lay "Bug" Barrett; her precious son, Jimmy Barrett; her great-granddaughter, Kaysen Grace Cogburn; her father; and her stepfather, Hershel Sullivan.

For several years, when she was younger, she sang gospel music in a trio with her sisters, and they performed on a radio show. After she met and married her one true love, she spent the rest of her life as a homemaker, taking care of her family with all the love and joy she had. She was a wonderful cook and could make the best fried chicken. She enjoyed going to second-hand stores, working puzzles, loved turquoise jewelry and her dogs. Above all, her greatest joy in life was taking care of and spending time with her loving family. She was truly a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Lisa Barrett; her three daughters and two sons-in-law, Cathy Barrett Henthorn, Sandra and Alan Keener and Delores and Tommy Cogburn; numerous precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who she adored; her mother, Rhoda Sullivan of Smithville, Oklahoma; two brothers, Charles Lewis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Travis Sullivan of Smithville, Oklahoma; three sisters, Julia Watson of Watson, Oklahoma, Martha Watson and Donna McBroom, both of Smithville, Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members; and a host of wonderful friends.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, June 3, 2022, in the Woodall Valley Cemetery with Bro. Kyle Cowart officiating.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Barrett, Mark Cogburn, Daniel Jones, Zack Cogburn, Eric Cogburn, Johnathan Keener, Kevin Evans and Kyle Barrett.

Honorary pallbearers will be Crystal Cogburn, Dakota Yarbrough, Jeremy Cogburn, Shawn Cogburn and Lane Austin.

Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home, Glenwood.
