Veteran of Two Wars.

GARY, S.D., Aug. 7. -

Captain Abram Harkins is dead. He was a veteran of two wars - a soldier in the Mexican war and a captain in the Second Minnesota infantry. Captain Harkins held many positions of public trust. He was postmaster of Rochester, Minn., from 1871 to 1883. He represented his district in the legislature of Minnesota and after coming to South Dakota was elected to represent Denel county in the legislature. At the time of his death he was 75 years old.
