Jane Elizabeth McCandless passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 27, 1932 in Elko, South Carolina to the late Claude and Grace Hair.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elwood McCandless from Oakland City, Indiana, and sister Minnie Pope from Orangeburg, South Carolina.

Jane was a member of the Muren Church of God, where she was a board member of the church and President of the WCG (Women of the Church of God). Jane was loved by many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren who know her as Mamaw Jane. Jane enjoyed spending much of her time with family and friends, and loved many hobbies including quilting, gardening, IU Basketball, "Rook" playing cards, attending church and church activities, walking with friends, and attending her grandchildren's sporting events.

Jane is survived by her daughter Linda (Dannie) Willis of Winslow, Indiana, grandchildren Max Willis of Winslow, Indiana, Derek (Katelyn) Willis and great grandchildren Wyatt and Webb of Winslow Indiana, Heather (Jake) Robinette and three great grandchildren of Petersburg Indiana, and Shawna Willis and three great grandchildren along with four great great grandchildren of Huntingburg, Indiana.

Jane is also survived by brothers Claude (Joyce) Hair from Monks Corner, South Carolina, Vernon (Myra) Hair of Summerville, South Carolina, and Jerry Hair of Williston, South Carolina along with sisters Claudette McFarland of Austin, Texas, Nell Lynn of Winslow, Indiana and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family and friends may visit Monday, May 30, 2022 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. (Eastern Time) at Lamb Basham Memorial Chapel, 226 E Washington St, Oakland City, IN 47660. Jane requested that donations be made to the Muren Church of God "Building Fund" in lieu of flowers. A visitation will be held 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. (Eastern Time) Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at the Muren Church of God, 901 IN 64, Winslow IN 47598, with funeral service following, officiated by Pastor Clint Woolsey, and final resting place afterwards at Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City, IN.
