Abel De Leon Sr. passed away peacefully in his Indio home surrounded by his wife and children at the age of 92.
He was born in Los Ramones, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on January 3, 1930, to Natividad and Lorenza De Leon. Abel was the eldest of six siblings: Elida Gomez, Evangelina Castillo, Natividad, Ray , and Jose .
Abel moved to Harlingen, Texas in the 1940s before moving to Los Angeles in 1956, where he met and married his wife Carmen in 1960. In 1962, he moved his family to the Coachella Valley to open his first gas station, then went on to open Abel's Dismantling and Towing until retiring in
1992. He was loved by many who knew him.
In his life, Abel was the loving father to his four children Abel Jr. , Juan, Rosemary Lopez, and Elizabeth. He was also an influential grandfather to seven grandchildren: Angelica, Eilenna, Sarah Sanchez, Michael Solis, Damian , Aaron Lopez, and Adam Lopez as well as a proud great-grandfather of six.
