Verda Klym, former resident of Willamina, Oregon, died January 14, 2008 at Richland, Washington.
She was born February 24, 1919 at Boise, Idaho, to Frank A. Lingscheit and Cora E. (Davis) Lingscheit.
She moved with her family to Willowbrook, California, when she was four years old and to Dupee Valley near Sheridan, Oregon, when she was 12. Her family later moved to nearby Gopher Valley.
She was married December 12, 1941 in Vancouver, Washington to Peter Klym with whom she raised six children. They met while they both worked at Menefee Turkey Ranch near Yamhill, Oregon.
Surviving her are her children: Lana K. Hart of Fairview, Oregon, Arthur D. Klym (Cheryl) of Kennewick, Washington; Donna L. Klym of Oregon City, Oregon, LB Ketelsen (Allen of Walla Walla, Washington and Lori F. Azrak (Mark) of Portland, Oregon. Also surviving her are 13 grandchildren (including, Graham Klym,Peter G. Klym, Jillian Klym, Tyler Ketelsen, Corben Ketelsen and Corrie Dickens in the Mid-Columbia) and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Peter Klym and her son, Karl P. Klym.
Also surviving her is her sister, Carol Wheeler of Yreka, California. She was preceded in death by her brothers, R. Wayne Lingscheit, B. Max Lingscheit and Leslie W. Lingscheit.
Mrs. Klym was a long-time resident of Cornelius, Oregon, where she and her husband operated a poultry farm for 37 years. They spent 25 years of retirement life near Willamina, Oregon.
Mrs. Klym's family is grateful to the Quail Hollow Memory Care Community staff for the love and care provided to her during the last nineteen months of her life. Special thanks also are due to the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice Program
