Violet Maxine Bowen stepped into her Heavenly Home on May 17, 2022. Known as Maxine all her life, she was born on December 20, 1927 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Lyda Murrell Fite and John Earl Fite. Maxine married Euel Monroe Bowen on June 29, 1946, following graduation from Holdenville High School. They met while in grade school. They were baptized at the same time in her uncle's pond when Euel was 12 and she was 9. While he served in the Philippines in WWII Maxine corresponded with him. When he returned home he asked her to marry him. In 1951 Euel surrendered to the ministry and Maxine then became a minister's wife. They attended the Missionary Baptist Seminary in Little Rock, Arkansas, beginning shortly after his surrender. She attended school there 2 years and loved studying God's word and methods of sharing it. Also during this time she often provided childcare for seminary students who needed this for their children while they attended classes. One of her favorite ministries was teaching children's Sunday School classes. She spent many hours studying and preparing materials which would communicate well with the children. One of her favorite educational tools for this was flannel graph. She often made lessons from what she had on hand, as money was tight. Maxine had the gift of hospitality and would often share meals with whoever happened to come by at mealtimes. It didn't matter if it was fried chicken or a hot dog, you were welcome to eat with the family if you cared to stay and visit.

Maxine served beside her husband in many congregations in Oklahoma and Arkansas for 43 years of ministry. The last of these was Henny Road Missionary Baptist in Choctaw where they served for 19 plus years. Following Euel's retirement they became members of First Missionary Baptist Church of Midwest City, later known as Lifeline Missionary Baptist Church. Maxine was a great prayer warrior and attended there until moving into assisted living in 2012. Maxine was a 29-year breast cancer survivor. She also contracted Covid-19 in 2020 and survived it at 92 years of age.

Upon her passing Maxine was a resident at Harrah Nursing Center, and had been living there since 2016. She received wonderful compassionate care at this facility throughout her residency there.

She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, John, Wayne, & Clifford Fite, and one sister, Marie Bowen.
