Symen Groeneveld
SEPTEMBER 16, 1914 – AUGUST 5, 2013
Groeneveld; Symen passed away peacefully in West Coast General Hospital on Monday, August 5, 2013 at 98 years of age.
The last of his generation, Symen is predeceased by his wife Christina, grandson Michael and his 10 siblings.
Symen worked for many years as a forklift driver at Alberni Pulp & Paper until his retirement, when he was finally able to focus his time and attention to his true passion, farming. He was always happiest working around the farm, either caring for his cows (whom he knew by name), riding around on the tractor or any of the other endless tasks that he so much enjoyed.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Knox Presbyterian Church, 4850 Regina Ave, Port Alberni, BC with Reverend Laura Hargrove officiating. Cremation has taken place. Stories and condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.chapelofmemories.ca. If desired, donations in Symen's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
