Ann Eremko

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ann on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at the age of 91 years. Ann was born in Martynow, Poland and came to Canada with her mother and sister to join her father, Joseph in East Coulee, AB. When Ann was in her mid-teens she moved to Calgary to attend Henderson's Business School. She then got her first job at Forex Bakery at 17 years of age. General Distributors was Ann's next place of work as a bookkeeper for Sam Cohen. From there Ann worked at the Calgary Associate Clinic in the Accounting Department and her final career move was to Pan Canadian Petroleum (now Encana in the Joint Ventures department) to work until her retirement in 1990. During that time Ann met the love of her life Bill Eremko with whom she shared nearly 67 years of marriage. Ann loved to cook and bake and was always sharing her goodies with family and friends no matter the occasion. She especially enjoyed making cinnamon buns for her grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and sewing. Ann was a member of the Desk and Derrick Club and Confederation Park 55+ Activity Centre, where she and Bill spent many happy, fun hours dancing with the Gliders and helping with the garage sale. Ann is survived and lovingly remembered by her only daughter; two grandchildren; as well as her four great-grandchildren who were the absolute lights of her life. She was so proud to be "BABA" to the four of them. Ann was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Sophia Jakula, sister Sophie Sorensen and her loving husband Bill, in 2009. The family would like to extend special thanks to the caregivers at Brentwood Care Centre. A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W. Calgary (across from Queen's Park Cemetery) on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., private interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Foothills Hospital, Calgary Health Trust 800, 11012 Macleod Trail S.E.
