Funeral services for Aaron Leifer, a leader in Congregation Beth El Jacob, were held Wednesday in the synagogue. His long association with the congregation was honored when his remains were brought into the main sanctuary of the synagogue, a rare custom among Orthodox Jews, accorded only to outstanding religious figures.

Mr. Leifer lived at 13 Ash Grove Place. Born in Austria, he moved to New York City in 1904 and to Albany in 1920. He died Tuesday in his home. He was employed by Drooz & Reiter Manufacturing Co. until his retirement in 1950.

Mr. Leifer was gabbi of ritual decorum in the congregation. He was a member of the Mizrachi Organization of America and Albany Vaad Hakasruth. Services were held by Rabbi Nuchim Kornmehl and Cantor Kenneth Rabineau. Burial was in the congregation cemetery on Fuller Road.

Surviving are a son, Rabbi Louis Leifer of New York City: two daughters, Esther and Yetta Leifer, both of Albany, and a sister, Mrs. Joseph Schneiderman of North Bergen, N. J.
