Mrs. Ida A. Confer Thornton died of heart failure, August 31, 1914 at her home on B street, Fairbury, Nebraska at the age of 55 years, 3 months and 18 days.
She was born at Livingston county, New York May 13, 1859, and shortly after the Civil war she moved to Clay Center, Kansas, where she lived until 1898, when she moved to Fairbury, Nebraska and married John Thornton.
She had no children, but she was a rearing mother to the six children of Mr. Thornton's first wife. They are: Mrs. Frank Durr, of Troy, Kansas; Mrs. C. L. Hobbs, of Lincoln, Nebraska, Miss Cecil Thornton of Lincoln, Nebraska, Percy, Albert and Lyndon Thornton.
Mr. Thornton died a year ago December.
She leaves one sister, Mrs. J. P. Clarke and brother, Byron or James Confer.
