Nell Farabee Hughes, 90, died early Monday morning on November 4, 2019 at Alston Brook Nursing Home in Davidson County. A native of Davidson County, a daughter born on September 30, 1929 to the late Marshall Pinnix Farabee and Clatie Foster Farabee. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence, Jackson, John; four sisters, Margaret, Mary, Agnes, and Wilma.

Nell was a graduate of Reeds High School. Her passion in life was her job that she loved dearly as a postal carrier for the United States Postal Service in which she was employed for more than forty years. She was a member of Reeds United Methodist Church in Lexington.

Left to cherish her memory are three sons, Willard Buddy Hughes (Elaine), Tim Temple (Martha), Tommy Hughes (Theresa) all of Lexington; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; two very special nieces, Leah Farabee & Lynn Nasi. A special thank you to all the caregivers at Alston Brook who treated Nell like family.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Reeds United Methodist Church on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM., and other times at Buddy's home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Reeds United Methodist Church. Rev. Barry Queen officiating. Interment will follow the service at Reeds United Methodist Church Cemetery.
