Benager Peace was the son of Thomas Leroy Peace and Jane Harp. He first married Elizabeth Fuson, daughter of John Fuson and Mary Polly Garner, on Oct. 7, 1838 in Claiborne, TN. They had the following children all born in Big Poplar Creek, Siler, Whitley, KY:
Josephine (Sept 1839-Feb 1881), William Harris (Jan 1843-Jan 1925), Thomas (Apr 1846-1914), John P. ( Mar 1848-1888), Nancy (b. 1853), Leroy (Mar. 1854-1920), Mary Polly (b. 1856), Elizabeth "Lizzie" (b. 1861).

Upon the death of Elizabeth on Mar. 24, 1860, he remarried Cecelia Minerva Phillips on Dec. 24, 1864. They had the following children:
Stephen (1865), Sarah Jane (1867), Eliza Alice (1870), Joseph Matt (1872), George W. (1874), Hilda (1877), Lida (1880), and Fate, their last child/daughter. All were born in Big Poplar Creek.
