Died Sunday evening, January 12, 1902, Mrs. Abigail Torrance, wife of James Torrance, of Elmo Grove township. Deceased was 77 years, 10 months and 6 days old at the time of her death. Abigail Dike was born in Windsor County, Vermont, March 6, 1824. She was the eldest daughter of Daniel and Sarah Dike. With her parents she moved to Medina county, Ohio, and a few years later to Delaware County, Ohio, where she grew to womanhood. She was married the 19th day of September 1844, to James Torrance who survives her.
They moved to Linn County, Iowa, in 1849, and to Calhoun county, Iowa, in 1882. Four children were born to them, all dying in infancy but Jesse C., with whom she made her home. She was converted in early youth and was a faithful and consistent member...(the rest is missing)
