Edward Leroy "Squeecy" Blackwell, 63, of Churchville passed away Friday, April 15, 2022 at UVA Health Center.

Mr. Blackwell was born in Staunton on July 27, 1958, a son of the late Homer Thomas Sr. and Mary Alice (Weaver) Blackwell.
A service representative, Eddie was employed with Lab Corp, who loved visiting with the staff in the many offices on his route. He was known as a people person, who never met a stranger. He will be fondly remembered for his bubbly personality and laughter that would light up a room. Eddie had a great love for hunting deer and turkey. He was an avid sports fan, especially college and high school basketball and a devoted Oakland Raiders fan. He had a lot of fond memories of playing basketball at Buffalo Gap High School. He enjoyed helping his wife decorate for Halloween. Above all, Eddie was a devoted husband, who cherished his family.
In addition to his parents, Eddie was predeceased by two brothers, Fred W. and Frank C. Blackwell.
A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, April 21 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with Rev. Beth Pyles officiating. Interment will follow in Head Waters Cemetery.
