Born on Jul. 16, 1839 at Salem, Essex County, Massachusetts, William Hardin Ashby is the son of Susan Hammond and Nathaniel Ashby Nathaniel.
William Hardin came to Utah Sept. 20, 1848 with the Brigham Young company. His family home was located in Holden, Millard, Utah. While separating horses one day, William was knocked unconscious and his head was split open. He was taken care of by Ebenezer Barnes.
He married Nancy Maria Badger January 14, 1865 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their children: William Hardin Ashby, Maria Ashby, Ada Jane Ashby, Rodney Badger Ashby, Nathaniel Ashby, Emma Louisa Ashby, Susan Ashby, Robert Ashby, Mary Edith Ashby, Martha Ellen Ashby, Florence Ashby, Austin Garr Ashby and Clinton Ashby. Family home was in Holden, Utah.
He also married Charlotta Louisa Badger October 11, 1875 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He passed away on March 19, 1925 at Holden, Millard County, Utah.
