After battling a long illness, Virginia passed away peacefully on January 8, 2022 in Albuquerque, NM.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro Martínez and Elvira Martínez and her four brothers, Tony, Dan, Henry and Joe Martínez, sisters-in-law, Lala, Eva and Mary, her sister, Alice Griego and brother-in-law, Carlos Griego.
Virginia is survived by several nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces, and has lived to see her great-great nephews and great-great-nieces. Virginia is also survived by several God children.
Virginia's family is from Algodones, NM and has spent a majority of her lifetime in Algodones.
In her retirement years, some of Virgina's rewarding passions were music, the making and displaying of her most realistic looking porcelain dolls, her artwork and her contribution to her Christian life. Though a knee injury and trouble with her legs slowed her down, she still found a way to join all family and friend functions.
Virginia will be remembered by her annual May Crowning of the Blessed Virgin Mary Celebration joined by many in her Chapel that was built and consecrated as The House of Mary Chapel.
Virginia was a woman loved by her family and friends and she will be in all our memories and hearts.
Rest well and there is no one who will compare to you.
Services will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2022, beginning with a Rosary at 10:00 a.m. following with a Roman Catholic Mass at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church located at 301 S. Camino del Pueblo, Bernalillo, NM. Virginia will be laid to final rest immediately after the Mass at Algodones Cemetery.
