Kirkwood - John Black, an old resident of Kirkwood, died Sunday forenoon after a lingering illness, in his seventieth year. He was born at Millerstown, Pa., and came to Illinois in 1858. He was married to Miss May Littlefield, of Oquawka, in 1863 and to them five children were born, three of who, with the wife and mother still survive him. The children are: Grant Black and Mrs. Viola Potter, Monmouth, and Mrs. Bertha Gritton, Kirkwood. The funeral was held at the United Presbyterian church, of which deceased had long been a member, at two o'clock Monday and the remains were interred in Center Grove cemetery.
