APPLE VALLEY – Albert Lee Berry, a Barstow resident for 53 years, died Tuesday at the age of 86.
He was born in Chelsa, Okla., in 1901, grew up in New Mexico and Arizona and attended barber college in Texas. He later lived in San Bernardino and Ontario, then in Barstow owned the old Melrose Barber shop for several years. He established the Slash X Ranch built in 1942 and was in the cattle business there for many years. In 1956 he built the Slash X Café south of Barstow, when he later sold.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; a daughter, Lona Berry of
West Covina; a son, Donald Worsham of Rialto; and three grandchildren.
No services will be held. Friends may contribute to the Hospice of Mojave Valley or to a charity of their choice.

"Lee" as he was more commonly known by was married to Mary Crinnion/Weaver in 1938 in Reno Nevada.
