Antonio "Tony" Bocchini, age 85, of McMurray, Peters Township, Pennsylvania, and formerly of Greene County, Pennsylvania, died Saturday, January 5, 2008.

He was born December 21, 1922, in France, the son of Adam Bocchini and Virginia Valli Bocchini.

Mr. Bocchini was employed for 13 years as a coal miner, first at the Shannopin Mine in Bobtown, Pennsylvania, and then at the Nemacolin Mine.

He was a Maintenance Foreman for 25 years for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), retiring in 1982.

Also, he served for 23 years as the Cumberland Township Police Officer, seven of which as Chief of Police.

Mr. Bocchini was a member of the Jessop Boat Club, The Fraternal Order of Police LaFayette Lodge in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, The National Association of Civilian Conservation Corps Alumni, AFSCME Chapter 13, Peters Township Senior Citizens, the American Legion Post and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post both in Carmichaels, Pennsylvania, and the Nemacolin Citizens Club where he served many years as the Vice President.

On September 9, 1950, he married Marie Louise Colaianni Bocchini, who survives.

Also surviving are three sons: Anthony Bocchini (and his wife, Barbara) of Waynesburg, Pa., David Bocchini (and his wife, Janet) of Upper St. Clair, Pa., and Perry Bocchini of Lawrence, Pa.; grandsons: Mark, Anthony, John and Peter; a brother, Lou, and a sister, Vera, both of North Canton, Ohio; and two nephews.

Family will receive friends at the PAUL M. LESAKO FUNERAL HOME, 204 Dowlin Avenue, Carmichaels, Pa., on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Visitation will continue at BEINHAUER'S, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, Peters Township, PA 15317 (724-941-3211) on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 10, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. in Saint Louise de Marillac Catholic Church, Upper St. Clair, Pa.

Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
