Funeral services for Charles Lester Mulford, 71, of LaPlata will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon May 14, 1982 in Hudson-Rimer Park View Chapel, Kirksville. The Rev. Beryl Cragg of Brashear will conduct the services. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens, Kirksville.
Mr. Mulford died at 6:30 MOnday evening May 10, 1982 at his home. He had been in failing health, however, death was unexpected.
The son of William Lindsey and Addie Lee Lowe Mulford, he was born January 6, 1911 in Adair County. On September 6, 1940 at Kahoka he married Ruby Lawson who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Anita Joan Rider of Hanford, California, Mrs. R.D. (Joyce Kay) Smyers of Hanford, California and Mrs. Jerry (Sharon Elaine) Cox of Notak, Alaska; three brothers, Jacob Mulford od Kirksville, William Mulford of Paradise, California and Dillard Mulford of Kirksville; one sister, Viola Carmel Jones of Kirksville and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two infant children; one brother Roy Mulfor in 1951 and two sisters, Goldie Sefrit in 1969 and Bessie Haynie in 1946.
Mr. Mulford resided in Adair County, where he was engaged in farming until the early 1970's. He then moved to Hanford, California where he lived until returning to this area in August, 1981.
During World War II, Mr. Mulford served with the United States Navy as a Seaman Second Class in the Transport Troop.
Bearers will be Russell Bob Pickens, Eugene Swisher, Paul Bragg, W.A. "Bud" Black, Glen Gerhold and James Garlock.
