William Marlin Mulford

of Paradise, CA passed away October 21, 2005 at age 96. He was born in Kirksville, MO to William L. Mulford and Addie Lowe Mulford.

At age 16, he left the family farm and joined the traveling circus as a stage hand. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1931-1935.

After his military service Mr. Mulford moved to Alaska and joined the carpenters union. He built every house he ever lived in.

In 1942, he reenlisted in the USMC and served in WWII as a Sergeant Major. He fought in the Pacific Theater, including the islands of Peleliu and Okinawa.

After the war, Mr. Mulford lived with his wife Leora Nelson Mulford and their daughter Brenda in Alaska. The family later moved to Paradise. His wife Leora predeceased him.

He was a member of the Paradise Elks Lodge and a recipient of the 60 year pin. He was also a member of the 1st Marine Division Association and the VFW.

He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Mulford of Paradise, CA, granddaughter, Lisa Bell of Paradise, numerous nieces and nephews and loving companion, Elna Larson of Paradise.

A graveside memorial will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2006, 1:00 p.m. at the Paradise Cemetery, all who knew him are invited to attend.
