John J. Stecker, 82-year-old Skedee pioneer, passed away Monday, June 26, at a Pawnee hospital.
He was born near Abiline, Kan., on March 16, 1879 and came to the Skedee community 65 years ago and has lived there ever since, retiring from the farm in 1944.
He was married on March 1, 1901 at Skedee and his wife, Lillie Mae, survives as well as 2 sons and 2 daughters: Horace J. Stecker of Seattle, Wash.; George Stecker of Bakersfield, Calif.; Mrs. Trudy Lamont of Prosser, Wash. and Mrs. Nora Butler of Linwood, Wash.
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren,20 great-grandchildren and 1 great,great grandchild besides 3 brothers, Kasper Stecker, also of Skedee, Will Stecker of Oklahoma City and Anthony Stecker of Clovis, New Mexico.
