EDGAR FRANCIS RITES WEDNESDAY
Edgar Ray Francis, 88 of La Plata, died Sunday at the University of Missouri Medical Center in Columbia where he had been a patient since Feb. 24. Mr. Francis had been a resident of the La Plata Nursing Home since 1968.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at the La Plata Christian Church. Burial will be in the New Harmony Cemetery, east of La Plata.
Mr. Francis was born June 10, 1885, east of La Plata, the son of William "Bud" and Rachel (Cupp) Francis. On Feb. 25, 1912 in Adair County, he was married to Ada Newton, who preceded him in death on June 11, 1969. He had lived on the same farm where he was born until he moved to La Plata in 1962.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Hazel Irene Bowen of Dubuque, Iowa; two sons, Erby Francis of Atlanta, and Oral Francis of Kirksville; eight grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife he had been preceded in death by one great-grandson.
