JOHN WILLIAM BRADFORD
John William Bradford, son of Stephen H. and Margaret (Mumford) Bradford, was born in Knox County, Missouri, Nov. 15, 1855 and died quite suddenly at the home of his son, Mote, near Cherry Box, Missouri, Oct. 11, 1932 at the age of 76 years, 11 months, and 26 days.
He was married to Miss Nancy Cupp on June 8, 1879, who with two sons, Aubra of Mexico, Missouri, and Mote of near Cherry Box, and with eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, are left to mourn his death. A daughter, Mrs. Mertie Snow, passed away some twenty years ago, leaving five children, four of them went on to make their home with their grandparents where they received loving care until they grew to womanhood and manhood. Two of them, Clyde Cupp of Nebraska, and Mrs. Charlie Snow of Atlanta, were present at their grandfather's funeral.
Mr. Bradford was the only son in a family of ten children of which only two are living, Mrs. Margaret Wares of Jinka, United Kingdom, and Mrs. Susie Clements of Arkansas.
Uncle Jack, as he was lovingly known, was stricken with paralysis about five years ago, being confined to his bed most of the time but bore his affliction with Christian fortitude, always a smile for those who visited him, even though he was suffering much pain. He was a member of the Christian Church for over thirty-three years.
Funeral services were held at the Christian Church in Cherry Box, Oct. 14, 1921, conducted by Rev. Branic, pastor of that church. The body was laid to rest in the Cherry Box Cemetery.
