Henry David Pitt was born on March 22, 1913, at home near Colony, Oklahoma in Washita County to William Wheeler and Willie Belle (King) Pitt and died on Wednesday, October 13, 1999 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma having reached the age of 86 years, 6 months, and 19 days.
On October 7, 1933, Henry married Floy Rosell Bennett at the Bethel Church in Washita County. They were married 66 years. They lived in the Cowden-Alfalfa area until they moved to the Hydro area on December 31, 1940. To this union five children were born. Henry was a farmer and raised greyhounds. The spring of 1989, he was honored by the National Greyhound Association Hall of Fame. After retiring, he spent his time working with crafts, playing dominoes, and Rook. Henry was a member of the Hydro First Baptist Church and the National Greyhound Association. Memorials may be made to the Hydro First Responders or to the Hydro First Baptist Church.
Henry is survived by his wife, Floy of the home in Hydro, Oklahoma; four children, Dorothy Jean Folsom and her husband, Roy of Hydro, Oklahoma, Leroy Pitt and his wife, Betty of Weatherford, Oklahoma, H.D. Pitt and his wife, Getty of Aurora, Colorado, and Mary Lou Scouten and her husband, Bob of Hydro, Oklahoma; three sisters, Dena Fay Kinder of Carnegie, Oklahoma, Irene Taylor of Tyler, Texas, and Catherine Krewall and her husband, Gus of Tyler, Texas. He was also survived by 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Willie Pitt; one son, Floyd Dean Pitt; a brother, Vernon Pitt; and a sister, Hazel Bennett
