According to the Fairbanks Daily News Miner on October 10, 1906 the funeral for Charles Newcomb was to be held on October 9 but was postponed until friends could be found to attend.
On October 11, 1906 the Fairbanks Daily News Miner reported that his name was James Newcomb as he was recognized by "Waterfront" Brown as a former Hunker Miner who came from Eastern Canada. Brown stated that the man is well known to James F. MacDonald, former mayor of the city Mr Newcomb was from. His remains are being held at the undertakers parlor until such time as friends can identify the man. He came from Graehl to the hospital. He was called on a few times by a man named Smith, who has gone to the creeks.
Further research needed to identify his first name as either William, Charles or James.
