Zella C. Walker was born Feb. 18, 1902 at Rix Ridge, Idaho, to William and Little Fix Hall. She attended school at Fix Ridge through the eighth grade and graduated from high school at Juliaetta, Idaho.
On Feb. 9, 1919, she married John J. Pickerd at Orofino, Idaho. They lived at Troy, Idaho, where he was a mortician for 19 years prior to his death in 1938.
After Mr. Pickerd's death, she and her six children moved to Moscow, Idaho. On June 3, 1944, she married Floyd Walker. She was employed as a cook for the Moscow School district for more than 20 years. Her husband, Floyd Walker, Died in 1971, and she came to Pendleton from Moscow in 1980.
She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and made many Afghans, tablecloths and bedspreads. She also enjoyed tatting and embroidery and working in her garden.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Moscow; Was a past noble grand of Star Rebekah Lodge 15 in Moscow; Past District President of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. Was a member of the Tomer Butte World War I Auxiliary; was past oracle of the Royal Neighbors and Received her 50 year membership pin in 1977; she was also a member of the Moscow Senior Citizens.
