Melvin "Mel" Lloyd McKinney, 85, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, March 23, 2022. He was born in Jeffersonville, Indiana to the late Roy and Ruth (Jennings) McKinney.

Melvin graduated from Jeffersonville High School in 1955 and afterwards he served in the National Guard. Melvin met his late wife Mary Jo in 1960; while she was working at the Trolley Inn. They were married for 59 years until her death in July 2021. He worked at American Air Filter for over 40 years as a welder. Where they were chosen to work on filter's for the Apollo Space Missions. Melvin played softball, loved dancing with his wife, especially the Jitterbug, and coaching little league baseball. He served as President of the little league for several years. Mel was very passionate about bowling ; which he started when he was a kid setting pins at the bowling alley; and he bowled into his 70's. Melvin and Mary Jo always enjoyed cheering on their kids and especially their grandkids at their various sport events. He was a long time member of Sacred Heart Church.

Melvin is survived by his children, David McKinney (Carla), Trina McKinney, Terry Grider (Mark); six grandchildren, Stephen Miller (Jocelyn), Brandon Oakes (Heather), Samantha Grider (Colin), Kendall Cline, Nicholas Grider (Angel) and Robert Cline II; three great grandchildren, Oliver Oakes, Keair Cline and Kinsleigh Holmes; four siblings, Dolores Noyes, Roy McKinney, Mildred Abbott and Butch McKinney.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 27, 2022 from 2:00- 7:00 p.m. and Monday, March 28, 2022 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 28, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
