Joseph was the son of Ebenezer and Elizabeth (Brooks) Fellows. He was the first to settle in Andover, in 1761 and was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. Joseph was married secondly to Deborah Pavier of Hampton Falls. She died in June of 1820, aged 87 years.

He had nine children. Five are profiled below.

•Benjamin who was born October 7, 1760. He married January 18, 1792, Mary Blaisdell of Andover.
•Margaret who was born February 25, 1763. She was the first white child born in town. Margaret married 1st James Randall and married 2nd Joseph Woodbury of Corinth, Orange co, Vermont. They had several children. James was the first schoolmaster in Andover. He died in Andover April 11, 1800, æ 53. So far as is known nine children were born to Margaret and James. Eight died in infancy. The only records of their deaths are noted in Rev. Josiah Badcock's diary.
•Abel who was born April 3, 1765. His wife's name is not known.
•John who was born February 22, 1767 and died May 26, 1846 in Parma, Monroe county, New York. He married Polly Cilley November 1, 1793. She is the daughter of Jonathan and Abigail (Knowlton) Cilley. Polly was born at Andover March 11, 1775, and died at Parma March 5, 1839. On p149 of the History of Andover you will find a statement claiming Polly is the daughter of Jonathan and Deborah (Dearborn) Cilley. This information is wrong. John settled in Andover, then he moved to Bridgewater, N. H., 1806-'08, and to Panama, N. Y., after 1818.
•Ebenezer who was born in 1769. He married October 15, 1797, Meribah Stevens of Salisbury. Meribah is the daughter of Daniel and Mehitable (Heath) Stevens. She is the oldest of their four children. In the History of Salisbury on p798 her name is spelt Maribah. Ebenezer and Meribah removed to Tunbridge, Orange co, Vermont.
