There are several pieces of his silver still in existence. A soup ladle and four tablespoons are at the Baltimore Historical Society. A silver service is also located at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Washington D.C., made for his son, Rev. Jacob Ambrose Walter.
He worked at his trade until a few years before his death of paralysis. He was originally interred at the Old Pro Cathedral cemetery but his remains were removed to New Cathedral upon the closure of that cemetery.
