Mabel E. Andes, 86 of Independence, MO passed away Jan. 2, 2008 at the Groves Living Center. Services will be 11:00 am, Mon., Jan 7, 2008 at the Community Center at the Groves, 1515 W. White Oak, Indep. MO, with the visitation being held from 10:00 am until service time. Burial in Md. Grove Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to Grandma's Alzheimer's Fund, 300 N. Osage, Indep. MO 64050.
Mabel was born on Jan 25, 1921 to Pete and Zora (Green) Lonzo in Independence. She had worded for the railroad during WWII. She married Ivan Andes in 1948 and raised three sons. She returned to work in 1967 as a secretary to the managing editors of Herald Publishing House, owned by the RLDS church. She retired ten years later, and was very proud of the work she did for them. Mable is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ivan; and her three sons; Donald Andes of Independence, Wayne Andes and wife Linda of Independence and Cliff Andes and wife Connie of Oak Grove, MO. She has five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two sisters, Irene Lewis of Sugar Creek and Cece Shinabargar of Oak Grove, MO.
