MANKATO — Former Eagle Lake resident Lester A. McCollum, 100, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at Mankato House Health Care Center.
Services are 11 a. m. today at Zion United Methodist Church, St. Clair, the Rev. Margery L. Lisle officiating. Burial is in Decoria Cemetery, rural Mankato. Visitation is one hour before services Monday at the church. Mankato Mortuary is handling arrangements.
Mr. McCollum was born Sept. 16, 1899, to Mr. and Mrs. McCollum in Mankato. He married Lena Widmen Dec. 12, 1935, at Mankato. He was a former member of Zion United Methodist Church. He had farmed, operated a saw mill, dug wells and graves, hauled freight and had been a carpenter and blacksmith. He enjoyed woodworking and drawing.
Mr. McCollum is survived by his wife, Lena; three sons and their wives, Bernard and Carol and Lloyd and Ginger, all of St. Clair, and LeRoy and. Marilyn of Cleveland; two daughters, Deloris Mosher and her husband, Dean, of St. Clair and Delphia Mason of Mankato; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great grand daughter; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Emma (Wussow) and one daughter. MFP, 2/14/2000
