Former Eagle Lake resident Magdalena H "Lena" McCollum, 89, died Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at Sunrise Cottage in Mankato. Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Zion United Methodist Church in St Clair, the Rev. Margery Lisle officiating. Burial is in Decoria Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour before services Saturday at the church.
Mrs. McCollum was born July 7, 1912, to Joseph and Marie (Ostermeyer) Widmen in Munich, Germany. She married Lester A McCollum Dec 12, 1935. She had been employed by Blatty and Johnson Launderer, Mankato State University and Bird's Eye in Waseca and was a home health aide with Blue Earth County. Her interests included crocheting and gardening. Her baked and canned goods earned many ribbons at the Blue Earth County Fair.
Mrs. McCollum is survived by three sons and their wives, Bernard and Carol and Lloyd and Ginger, all of St Clair, and LeRoy and Marilyn of Cleveland; one daughter and her husband, Deloris and Dean Mosher of St Clair; a stepdaughter, Delphic Mason of Mankato; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Embacher of Mankato; two brothers and their wives, Bill and Rose Hruby of North Mankato and Robert and Delores Hruby of Madelia; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister and two brothers. Mankato Free Press; 7/4/2002.
